From July 18–19, 2025, the Transformational Leadership Center (TLC), through the Children’s Peace Library, organized a two-day workshop for librarians aimed at enhancing their leadership and conflict resolution skills. The workshop primarily served as a refresher training on facilitating Peer Mediation sessions and was led by TLC Supervisor Therese Mukamanzi and Children Peace Libraries Coordinator Francine Muhawenimana. Its main goal was to strengthen librarians’ capacity to help children resolve peer conflicts peacefully.In addition to the peer mediation training, participants engaged in a session on Rwandan culture and heritage, This session emphasized the importance of integrating cultural values into everyday library activities and was facilitated by Makuza Richard, founder of the New Timbuktu Inderabarenzi “Umurage wacu mu kubaka u Rwanda Ruhamye” the library of Culture and Heritage, in partnership with TLC. Participants discussed the role of Children’s Peace Libraries in fostering peace, cultural identity, and heritage through storytelling, thoughtful book selections, and community cultural initiatives.
